Losing Logbook
Dear Friends,
I just wanted to know if losing a logbook would be considered a bad record in a Pilot's career. Ok and what are the solutions? |
Depends what you're planning to do with it, most employers like a tight logbook, but the ones who have been around a while might settle for a loose one. :}

It's considered poor form to loose it at a prospective employer.

I heard we need to apply for the verification of hours by the CAA to justify the hours that can be forwarded to new logbook, is that right?

In that case, no. What to do depends on how much info you've lost, and what other records you have e.g. there will often be a record of your hours when you renew or apply for a rating. Or you could check your club records if applicable. Not an insurmountable problem.

Exactly, it depends what kind of flying you do and where. For example flying in an AOC in europe the operator is responsible for keeping your times (JAR FCL 1080 (a) and the corresponding EASA FCL part). Therefore losing your personal log is of no consequence as you can simply ask your employer to provide you with an up to date log.
Once you have a couple thousand hours they do not matter than much anymore anyway. |
