Question About A330/A320 Flaps

Howdy. The image below is a wing of an A330. My question is this: You will notice that at the red arrows, there is a tang in the flaps that fits into an indentation in the flap track covers. I'm just curious why the tangs exist for the inner and outer flap covers but not for the ones in the middle.
