Just outisde this airspace there are lots of schools: search for: Falcon Field Municipal Airport. .Chandler Municipal Apt. .Goodyear Airport. .Glendale Airport. .Casa Grande Airport. .Williams Gatewat Airport GOOD LUCK, wx and scenery there are AMAZING! |
Don't forget Deer Valley. I did some flight training out there. Great fun flying, bit bloody hot though. make sure the aircraft you hire's got a/c. Panam used to be based out of there, don't know if they are now????? <img src="cool.gif" border="0">

Skyharbor is easily in the top ten busiest airports in the world, probably around 50% busier than LHR on a movement basis. It was the busiest two runway airport in the world until they put in 7R/25L recently. There is a flight school there, but you will spend a lot of time and money on taxiways if you train there. I've been in and out in a warrior for the hell of it, no big deal, just call them up a good 15 minutes beforehand. PHX App very friendly and will always try to fit practice approaches in even when they are busy.
Multiple class D airports under class B wedding cake. <a href="http://www.phxskyharbor.com/" target="_blank">Main Phoenix Skyharbor Site</a> Airnav pages <a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KPHX" target="_blank">Phoenix Skyharbor</a>. .<a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KFFZ" target="_blank">Falcon Field</a>. .<a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KSDS" target="_blank">Scottsdale</a>. .<a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KDVT" target="_blank">Deer Valley</a>. .<a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KCD" target="_blank">Chandler</a>. .<a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KGYR" target="_blank">Goodyear</a>. .<a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KGEU" target="_blank">Glendale</a>. .<a href="http://www.airnav.com/airport/KIWA" target="_blank">Williams</a> Yes, weather splendid. Yesterday hit the low 80s, much the same for the rest of the week. BBQs all through the weekend though the pools are still a bit chilly. [ 25 February 2002: Message edited by: slim_slag ]</p> |
SKAZ,
Try Swift Aviation (or Swift Air) - it is a growing FBO with flight training based at Sky Harbor. Another good flight school in Phoenix is Sawyer Aviation based at Scottsdale Airport. The flying conditions are fantastic in Arizona - but expect 3-4 hot summer months - but the rest of the year the weather is WONDERFUL!!!! Hey, with 320+ days of sunshine and calm winds per year, you can't ask for much more... Trust me, you'll love it there! . .Cheers |
It ain't HarboUr...'tis Harbor...Brits never could spell.

hmmm, but whose language was it first??

For the record Southwest are not based at Phoenix, they are based in Dallas, Texas.
|
But they do have a crew BASE in Phoenix <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Hi slim_slag,
Phoenix 5th in movements for 2000 with 637k movements, LHR 17th on 466k. Top three were Atlanta(915k), Chicago(908k) and Dallas(838k) |
Southwest are indeed still based at Love but Phoenix is now their no 1 airport in terms of daily departures

Thanks for the official stats newswatcher, I thought it was around there. Where is LGW? Class D and I hear you need to give 24 hours advance notice for GA movements. hahahaha.
Good web page for SkyHarbor and VFR guys <a href="http://www.swaviator.com/html/issueon00/hangaron00.html" target="_blank">SkyHabor</a> which is now over a year old - busier and new runway. Hey Wycombe, these Yankees have no respect for who started any craze, they only care who owns the language now! :) They even insist in calling Tony Blair the leader of the LaborParty - no respect at all for anybody elses way of spelling things. |
Slim_slag, LGW not in top 30 for 2000 movements, but on pax numbers, 23rd with 32m, PHX 15th with 36m, top four ATL - 80.2m, ORD - 72.1m, LAX - 66.4m, LHR - 64.6m.
