shannon diversion .......

did anyone hear anything about a Boeing 777 diverted to Shannon(Ireland) last sunday 25th nov 2001 - early afternoon (GMT) .... think it may have been a west bound BA flight with a problem on the left engine

Yes the flight from Havana to Gatwick, a B747-400 was dispatched from gatwickto collect the passengers that evening and the 777 departed the following morning

thanks a million for that Aerire ...... If you know what the problem was I would be interested, and also, were they were able to fix it in Shannon or did they have to bring guys in? ..... cheers ... hobie

Hobie,
My mate was one of the crew.
It was the engine anti ice that was giving problems.
Shannon was cavok I believe so they went there instead of LGW which didnt have as good WX.
They flew out some engineers with the 747 along some spares and they fixed it after the pax had continued to LGW on the 747.
