Flying in the USA VFR

Hi, is this a fairly straight forward thong to do, as a British pilot from what I've heard the ATC is quite abbreviated and fast.....does anyone have any advice or tips for me?

Very easy indeed.
If you stay clear of B/C/D airspace, you don`t have to talk to anyone. Although transmitting your intentions on UNICOM is a smart thing to do.

In my opinion its a bit of a myth that US comms is 'more difficult' than the UK.

I find it very straightforward and even with my strong Scottish accent I've never had a problem being understood either.

Well, the USA is a big place so, it really depends on where you want to fly. Don't make too much of all that stuff about controllers. As long as you know what you are doing, flying into controlled airspace is no big deal. Most controllers are nice folks just like everybody else. Do your homework. There are so many resources available today. Talk to some local pilots.

The western US is vast and beautiful. You can fly for hours and not be bothered by anybody. A flight to Sedona, Arizona will provide lifetime memories.

Go for it!! :ok:
