The 'RB' in RB2-11

I've heard that the derivation of 'RB' in Rolls Royce RB211 engines is 'Rolls Barnoldswick'. Anyone know if that's true?

I may be wrong, but I thought it was "Rolls-Bristol"

Yes, Rolls-Barnoldswick is correct. Named after the place in Yorkshire where a lot of the original testing of the first jets engines took place.

Yep, Definately Rolls-Barnoldswick. Although one school of thought was it stood for Rolls-Bypass.
