wearing gloves- while flying

is it true that all Japanese pilots wear gloves while operating the aircraft? . .. .What is the reason for this?

In Japan, even the "bag chuckers" wear white gloves.

Not just the Japanese-seems to be a very strange practice for some people in this country. When I did my GFTs in a Cheetah the Instructor used to pull his on as I turned onto finals!!

I regard the people who wear gloves to fly aeroplanes with the same dark suspicion which I hold for people who wear hats while driving motor cars.

I wear gloves while flying high performance aircraft, For two reasons:. .. .1. If your hands are sweaty ,the gloves will ensure your fingers don't slip off the important. .switch or control you are trying to manipulate. .( probably the one involved in why your hands are suddenly really sweaty ). .. .2. On a more serious note a friend of mine had a short circuit in a large aircraft switch panel( i.e. lots of high voltage stuff ). It and the surrounding part of the instrument panel very quickly became too hot to touch with bare fingers. That was when he started wearing gloves and in the spirit off "you should learn from other peoples experiences" , so did I. I figured it would be a real drag to have a cockpit fire , put it out , and then find you can't fly the airplane because your hands are burnt. . . . . [ 17 March 2002, 02:42: Message edited by: big pistons forever ]

They wear gloves cuz they are hygenic. I always wipe the yoke before I fly too, I don't wanna touch someone's sweat. You never know where their hands been - haha.
