MiG flying holidays
Just out of interest, has anyone done one of those "Pay £xxxxx and spend a week flying MiGs" holidays? Or know of anybody who has?
Witness : http://www.incredible-adventures.com/migs/program.html This sort of thing looks fantastic, especially the mixed packages (L39/MiG 21/MiG 25/Su 27) etc. I guess with the Russian Economy as-is this sort of thing is fairly unique. Although it's way too expensive for most of us mere mortals. Still, I guess being able to say "I've flown at Mach 2.8" is pretty much priceless! |
Or the unofficial way;
Go a bit further a field than Zhukovsky...make friends with officers from the local air base...they are lovely people and for a few hundred dollars will oblige with a ride in most of their 'toys'. |
There's a few accounts on the web from people who tried it. See:

MiGs are for the smal fish, I see they are now sending folk on trips to the ISS for a mere 10million, cheek the americans pay for it (well most of it), and the reds make money off it. :) :) :) :) http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif VF |
Luftwaffle, thanks for those links. Interesting reading indeed. I imagine the 1.4 or whatever dual time in a MiG-25 would be the highlight of any logbook!

I can't remember which magazine but I was rather more taken with the idea of the EE Lightning or Blackburn Buccaneer with Mike Beachyhead in South Africa.
When I win the lottery, that is! |
