Airbus Clock - Lie or Truth?
"The validity of the WTB test is based on the calendar built into the a/c clock so adjusting the clock by more than 9 days will render the test log invalid - causing the slats and flaps to lock. Ordinarily the a/c clock runs with real-time updates off the GPS master clock and shouldn't be changed."
So if you were to adjust the clock by more than 9 days -- say 10 days -- you're going to have to make a slatless/flapless landing? Any of you Airbus drivers out there know if this is the truth or just absolute rubbish? |

After a clock reset I had a few years ago, they also had to do a WTB check to release aircraft. |
With our MMR receivers on our 320's, these have been playing havoc with the GPS feed to the clock, resetting the date to sometime in the 1990's.
No WTB locks to date... |

They would get an ECAM message during phase 1,2,9 or 10.....

Afraid it's a misunderstanding that has been around for quite some time. Probably stirred up by those Boeing techies back over in Seattle.

I think there is some truth to it, I remember years ago one of our A320's clock was U/S and we had a WTB problem. :confused:

Yes true.
It's happened to one of our A340's a few years ago. They had to do a Flapless LDG because the S/O stuffed up adjusting the clock. Memo to Crew:---- Adjusting the clock is a MAINTENANCE FUNCTION on the ground.... |
Happened to a CX A/C on the ground after adjusting the clock, crew were unable to set the flaps for T/O. I'm fairly sure after the investigation it was confirmed in could not happen in flight, it may get triggered during flight but would only be an issue after landing.

happened at Sabena on a brnad new A321 (and just converted crew) coming from Malaga... So it is true.

Happened in my past airline before when a fast as lightning F/O decided to reset the clock on the pushback. Well, WTB did it's job and they had to pull back into the bay and get the engineer to run the procedure in the CMS. Don't play with the clock!!!

Yes true, but ten days for 330 and does not effect 320/19 from what I can see in the books.
