Radar Approach Separation (from Bristol Question Bank)

Horizontal separation - Independent parallel approaches. A minimum radar separation shall be provided until aircraft are established inbound on the ILS localizer course and/or MLS final approach track. This minimum is, when independent parallel approaches are being conducted:;

1, 2, 3 or 5nm?

The answer given is 3 (although it could be as low as 2.5nm).

I thought that the 2.5nm separation could only be applied once the two aircraft are established on the same localiser not beforehand as the question states.

Clarification would be great. :confused:

Many thanks!

3 is correct as you ain't on the parallel approach track, yet.
Question/answer looks OK to me.
