Bose headset issues

Hi all.
I'm in need of some information and advice please.

I recently just bought a new Bose X headset. After just two days I sent it back for reasons I will explain below and had a replacement sent out which I'm still not happy with.....

The problem is that with all incoming RT communications there is a constant background crackling (sounds like static crackling), or possible distortion.
All internal communication in the aircraft is perfect....only incoming RT affected.
The aircraft in question is a Boeing 737 and headset is the straight cord battery powered version.

Has anyone else here who owns or uses a Bose X had similar problems??? A friend of mine in the same company says his is crystal clear all the time (although I haven't had the opportunity to try his for comparison)

I use the Bose in the 737 without problem, the Sennheizer on the other hand would react to the window heat and generate a hum if I left the intercom switch on.

I used a Bose X in the BAe146 and B717, with no problems at all.

I've moved to a Plantronics MS250 now, because the 717 doesn't have a hot-mic facility, and having to keep one ear uncupped was a waste of the Bose's capabilities and cumbersome.

hmm thanks so far for the info.

Seems to be an isolated problem with my headset, maybe even a small batch. Not sure at the moment, Bose are looking into it and the headset is going back again for testing.

Tried two others this week owned by other guys I work with and theirs seem to be perfect. They were also 3-5 years old. Its possible something has been changed recently that is causing an issue.....

Hopefully get to the bottom of it.

Slightly off-topic but I have had a Bose X plugged into the back pax seats in a PA34 and knock out all radio comms and interfere with the instruments ! apart from that odd mishap I cant fault the things.

Thanks redout. Am pretty sure now that it is an isolated problem with this headset. Is going back this week for testing and further investigation.

Hopefully they will get to the bottom of it soon as the headset is great....just rather annoying at the moment! :ugh:

Bose headset.

Excellent headset but can't cope with heavy commercial use.
Now on to my 6th set of speaker brackets in 3 years.
Just this week noticed another crack in the finger down where the screw joins the earpiece.
Back for yet another replacement.
Cheers
