Question: Airframe/Engine systems training for Aircrew

I have followed the 777 accident thread(s) with interest and it has got me wondering about systems training for aircrews. I would be interested to know the depth and amount of hours of ground school given to aircrew when converting to new type.

For ground engineers aircraft type courses are on average 6-7 weeks covering airframe, engine and avionic systems although in the old days this was between 9 and 15 weeks depending on type and engine fits. Has the length of pilot training reduced by the same ratio (flying and ground school)?

Modern Regional Jet 2 weeks (10 working days) CBT...... Then give them the answers to the exam. It is all down to cost you see, why do you think flying has become so cheap?
