Boeing cockpit colour
Can anyone explain the reason why some Boeings (756 and 7's) sport a brown coloured cockpit, while the 73 generations sport a grey cockpit, come to think of it what about the blue or sometimes purple coloured cockpit in the MD-80's. Does it have to do with the contrast of the instruments and flat panels, or is it some other ergonomic design ? Thanks in advance.

Brown is supposed to be more relaxing. 747-400s and 777s have brown cockpits too.

Brown is SOooooo 70's!

I'm pretty sure Boeing spent money on psychologists to get the colour right. That brown was deemed to be the ideal 'comfortable' colour.
Relaxing is probably the wrong word for it! |
It's coffee coloured for obvious reasons. . . . :uhoh:

It's a precursor to mixed fleet flying. Helps you know which type you're on that day! :ok:
Alot of the equipment is interchangeable. I've been in a few grey 737s, with brown 'highlights'. |
As I understand the Soviets/Russians did some extensive research on this topic. Hence they came up with this green/turquoise type of colour they have in all of their cockpits be it military or civilian.
How about the grey-blue Airbus has in itīs cockpits? Does that feel alright? And is the brown colour in Boeing cockpits really that good? |
Thank you for the replies, I can say the brown colours are relaxing...or is it that I'm falling asleep at 30 West ??
