Good JAR performance book

I was thinking about buying the PJ Swatton book (Aircraft Performance Theory for Pilots) as a performance reference text, but before I shell out the millions of pounds that it costs can anybody recommend a better one??

As an old flight- and ground-instructor type, I always found my students learned as much from each other (and from each others' experiences) as from me. Often my job boiled down to getting students to ask the right questions.

For that reason - stay tuned to Pprune! :ok:

In a word no.

Its a book which will be as usefull in 10 years time as it will be for your exams.

It will get borrowed scuffed highlighted and all the other horrible things you do to a book you don't expect to keep. Then in a couple of years time when you want to look something up and eventually track down where it went to. You wish you hadn't abused it and why can't they produce a hard back version of the bugger which is bound properly. Instead of a paper back one that the glue melts and dumps all the pages if its left in the car for a day while your in the exam hall.

Get one, look after it, you will be using for years after your ATPL exams.
