Ashdown House

What is in Ashdown House at Gatwick Airport and what is it used for?

lobby 9th Dec 2005 22:05

Staff canteen, staff shop and offices. Nothing of any interest!

LGW15 10th Dec 2005 08:23

Doesn't it contain the ID Centre?

Speedpig 10th Dec 2005 09:21

How strange. You answered your own question!:ok:

LGW15 10th Dec 2005 09:26

Thought so. Thanks for replies.
Cheers

I can't help feeling a small amount of disquiet these days when people want to know such irrelevant and unimportant details, with no attempt at explaining why! I think sometimes we answer things far too quickly, even though we've lived through the age of terrorists attacking crew buses in London, airports, Docklands, pubs all over the UK, buses and trains in London recently, and perhaps we should know better.

lobby 10th Dec 2005 13:37

As Ashdown House is landside and anyone can walk in and out of it at will, what possible harm is there in answering this question?

I do agree however that some questions are best left unanswered.

Rainboe 10th Dec 2005 14:12

Probably as much harm as answering questions like 'where do airline crews stay on layovers in London' which pops up occasionally. I remember one crew attacked in London outside the hotel. It seems innocuous, but does anybody know who is LGW15 and why he wants to know and are they quite sure he is not looking for targets? We are all supposed to be observant and security conscious. I'm sure it is in all innocence, but looking at the replies, there appears to be mild suspicion from somebody else too.

261A 10th Dec 2005 19:36

Well first, only an innocent question as I live close to Gatwick and was simply curious about what goes on in Ashdown House.

I am no terrorist or criminal.

Can I also add that as Lobby says, Ashdown House is landside and anyone could go in or out so what is the problem with my question?

I am not asking about the security of the whole of an airport and how to by pass it am I!? :}

lobby 11th Dec 2005 06:20

Rainboe

If the question was "Where do aircrew stay on layovers"? I would have had the common sense not to answer. How could answering this be compared to aircrew being attacked in a hotel?

Caudillo 11th Dec 2005 14:03

"Where do aircrew stay on layovers"?
In hotels.

There's a difference between safety and being unnecessarily precious about everything my dear skygods.

BOAC 11th Dec 2005 14:21

Agree - I try not to get too worried about paranoia:D

Rainboe 11th Dec 2005 14:24

It's the day and age folks. For over 30 years the UK has been someone or other's terrorist target. I see an idle query about what goes on in '......' as suspicious, a query of 'is the ID unit in '....house' as innocent. These people are looking for targets and they appear to have reasonable intelligence as well. It does help when people advise the basis of their experience or query in a question instead of leaving it to you to answer or not, and how deeply the answer is to be given.

amanoffewwords 11th Dec 2005 15:33

what is the problem with my question?
261A, you got two ids on pprune or did your other persona ask the question?

Rainboe 11th Dec 2005 18:22

I noticed that......very very suspicious! Now why would he want 2 IDs...............?
