Not another FMC question!
Okay, just one more 767 FMC question.
This is the set-up for the 737 NG. You've planned and activated an ECON cruise speed, however before the descent you select a speed 20-30 kts lower than that for the ECON descent speed meaning the aircraft must decelerate from the cruise speed in the descent. Easy, the 737 NG powers back and decelerates just prior to the TOD. However, is this true for the 767? I’ve heard the 767 will follow the VTI at TOD point without decelerating and the speedbrakes must be utilised early in the descent to retard the speed back to the pre-programmed VNAV descent speed. Is this true? |
No, not true. 767 will reduce speed in cruise just prior to TOD to achieve whatever speed you have entered in descent page and then descend.

Get the ILS in Fix page. Go into FLCH. Multiply TMGx3, add 10 to slow down. 185 by GS Capture.
Easy. |
Thanks for the info.

Just an addition to crowsnest......
put the opposite end ILS in the fix page (if there is one)..as this is actually located at the thresold of where you want to go....rather than the ILS localiser that is located at the far end of the rwy your gonna use. i.e if your landing on 23..use ILS for 05 in the fix..and visa-versa. (had many a confused captain look at me sideways when Ive said this..but its true!!:)and it works) |
