Two-way LCD screens in aviation?
 

A few days ago, Sharp announced plans to produce an LCD monitor capable of displaying two different images--one visible by a viewer to the left of the screen, another to the right.

How would you apply this technology to a glass-cockpit environment?

Probably not a whole lot of use to the cockpit, since you stay sitting in the same position relative to the screen the whole time in the flight deck.

You can buy TVs in Japan already that use this technology - lets Mum and Dad watch the news from one side of the room while the kids watch cartoons on the same tv at the same time.

(the sound broadcast over the top of itself makes listening hard though)

Well, I think the fact that you always sit in the same position relative to a screen makes it ideal.
Panel space is usually at a premium in the smaller regional jets so if you can have a centre screen displaying engine information for PNF to set thrust and the ND on display for PF to use on departure you've just saved the space that one screen takes up.
