Beech 1900 Rate of Descent

Hypothetically speaking, what would be the maximum (and I mean MAXIMUM) rate of descent for a Beech 1900 from FL240 all the way down? Just more than a little curious.

Thanks.

Jerricho,

Hypothetically speaking, in cloud it would be possible to do 9000 ft descent in 3-4nm at 140 kt, flight idle, gear and flap down without the pax being wiser. Might know someone who has done something similar due to some imaginitive extreamly realistic ATC requirements.

We are talking hypothetically of course.

:ok:

Thanks swh,

Let's say hypothetically with a range from touchdown of about 20 miles straight in, with a ground speed of about 300 kts? ;)

It will drop like a rock if you want it to. "Maximum" is a whole football field away from "comfortable for the pax" of course.

Power levers idle, prop levers full forward, flaps take off, gear down and airspeed max 180kts will give you a max rate of descent around 4500 - 5000 fpm, the vsi is on its stop and this rate of decent is approximate. The 180kts is the limiting factor that stops you from being able to point the nose lower to the ground and increase your rate of descent. This was the standard approach when flying into Iraq with the 1900

V1650(must be Vincent Av)

The Ops Manual says Gear Down(188 kts) then Flaps 17 at 180Kts or below....

Dodo can fly....Kiwi

well...you could always use reverse pitch!! :E

Thanks people :ok:

Actually dodoflies, thats not quite correct. It's actually 188kts for flap 17 then 180kts for gear. Well that's for the D, I'm not sure about the C

You can put this plane anywhere, generally speaking descent profile is not the issue, but cabin descent is. It's crap with anything above around FL180

Cheers

Dodoflies, my reference is to the C model for that type of descent.
The D model Im sure could attain a similair descent rate as well. :ok:
