Hearing protection

Anyone using ER-15's on jet aircraft?

ER-15's

Comments appreciated.

The sales rep i spoke to claimed that KLM provides them to any of their pilots that wants a pair.

More to the point to use a noise reducing headset to cut out the external noise while retaining what you are actually trying to hear. If the airline whinges about the cost tell them it's cheaper than a law suit from a deafened ex-employee.

A valid point, but the noise levels in jets are apparently not high enough to require an employer to provide ANR headsets, for example. Some airlines also prohibit the use of your own headset, hence my interest of hearing (pun intended) any comments on these passive "plugs". They apparently cut out noise evenly through the whole frequency spectrum making it relatively easy to cross-communicate.

edited "employee" to read "employer"

I think you'll find the reason for their supply to pilots is for wearing on walkarounds of aircraft, not during operation.
