EGNOS and the UK...

What is the reason for the UK leaving the EGNOS project?

As of June 25th 2021, no more SBAS/LPV approaches will be available in the UK.

wow ...didn’t know that one. What a stupid thing. Since EGNOS coverage is still there, I’m guessing it’s a matter of asking operators not to use them, until removed completely from the Avionics NDB. I can’t see the UK setting up their own SBAS just to provide coverage over the UK....so,silly. Who’s behind this decision ? The euro side or the brits ?

Apparently the UK decided not to renew the contract... Probably part of the Brexit game playing gone on right now.

The approaches will probably just be NOTAM'd not to be used.

As to deletion of LPV, the UK is on a fools mission.
