ATC Veteran Age
Good Afternoon,
Just want to ask the question and explain my situation to see if it's possible to become a controller.
I have been in the military for almost 10 years and will be separating within the next few years. I am 28, so when I get out I'll be 31. From my understanding in the US the FAA has an age cutoff, but I have read somewhere that you can receive an age waiver possibly. I would like to become a controller, so any information or help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tyler

If you are currently a controller, you will likely get any age waiver you want. The FAA retirement age for controllers is 55, though those working for contractors can work after that.

Unfortunately, I am not a controller. I tried the military route but they are not taking any kind of retrains, only brand new airman. That is the biggest thing I am trying to get out of this post. Am I even able to get into controlling at this age?
