MAN - TFS T16 RYR
Hi all,
Just a quick question, onboard FR flight from MAN to TFS the other day, on any flight, I always carry my GPS Unit with me. Anyway, about an hour into the flight, we were routing to the south of Ireland and sure enough, entered T16 at OMOKO and left at NAVIX.
After doing some research on here, it seems that you need a HF Clearance from Santa Maria/Shanwick to enter Oceanic Airspace eg. T16 and T9.
Rumour has it that RYR have their HF radios removed when delivered to DUB from Boeing. If this is true, how do they communicate with Oceanic Controllers? Datalink or VHF maybe?
T16 is a few hundred miles out so didn't think VHF would travel that far?
Probably a really simple answer, but curious to know!

Why would you need to take them out - can't you just leave them in and not use them? Surely it would be cheaper to specify the aircraft without HF radios when you buy them ?
