Question Boeing's Cryogenic Engine?

I've just read the topic in the Rumours forum on Boeings plans to build a superjet! Something that puzzles me is does this project have anything to do with a rumour that I heard from a friend of mine at university.

The word was that Boeing have been designing a new engine that runs at a much cooler temperature therefore giving it more efficiency and power whilst cutting fuel consumption and lowering the noise levels of the engine.

I just wondered if anyone else has heard anything similar and if anybody has any information on this. To myself this sounds quite interesting.
