Not AIH crew, but have been there.
SSA has a single runway with reasonable facilities including radar and an ILS.
The terminal is ok. Handling isn't the best in the world by far, but not the worst either.
Salvador is a very large Brazilian city, with all the attendant problems. There is considerable pollution. Personal security is a matter that warrants some consideration as well.
Outside of the city, there are a number of coastal resorts with better quality beaches.
Not my favourite place on the planet, but others may think differently.
