L1011 Degraded Performance

Hello all

What TAKEOFF performance degradation, if any, does No2 Engine Thrust Reversor inop have on the L1011.

No rush....restrospective event-related question only!!

Cheers

My understanding is that it's standard in the industry to ignore reverse thrust for take-off/landing performance calculations.

Sam, you are right if you are talking about DRY runways, the effect of thust reversers are not accounted for in the calculations. However, you can use some of them for WET/CONT runway calcalations.

As usual, it depends....

Under British Civil Air Regulations, there is a weight penality with a thrust reverser (any one reverser, not just number two) unserviceable, on the Lockheed three-holer.

This includes dry runways, if I recall correctly.

Mutt has indicated correctly otherwise...ie: FAA (and others).

Had a discussion about this very subject with a real wiseguy co-pilot some years ago, and I told him to look it up in the big book that was always carried onboard...the one that said 'Lockheed California Company, L1011 Aircraft Flight Manual', on the cover.

He was a wiseguy no more.
