gold bars !

At local flying schools, I see staff with two, three or even four gold bars on their epaulets. What do these signify?

At my school the following:

no eppilette = student
eppilette (no bars) = ppl
1 bar = imc
2 bars = commercial
3 bars = instructor
4 bars = Chief instructor

Oh no....as soon as i see the gold bars in light aviation i want to run away because i also see expensive offices lots of potted plants, CCT,s the size of texas piles of !!!!!!!!! and aviation newcomers getting ripped off.

Nah:

one bar means it can read
two bars means it can write
three means it can read and write
four bars means it likes to hang around intelligent company.
