P1 or P2?

I'm PPL(A) SEP but have the chance to fly a pals Arrow for which I don't have the appropriate class rating RU, VP. He will be PIC due to insurance purposes so can I log P1.s whilst in control with his signature, or is it all P2 ? He is not a FI or CRI.

Thanks

No, you can only log P1/s if the flight is with an instructor and is a successful flight test.

P2 only has meaning in the context of an aircraft certified for 2 pilot operation so in this case you may not log the time.

Thanks, I was hoping it wouldn't be like that..

Just when I thought I'd found a cheap..er way to build hours too. So having the RU/VP rating wouldn't do me any good either then ?

Still, worth going along for the experience though.

First have the appropriate 'differences training' for VP and RG signed up in your log book by a FI or CRI. Then, if the owners allow it, you may fly as 'P1 (shared)' so long as the commander countersigns your logbook - but only for the time you are handling the ac, not the total airborne time.
