I´ve sent my CV to quite a lot of airlines in the last four months. No reply so far from nearly all of them. Should I assume , no thanks !!! or should i Keep some hope for the future. thanks.

I shouldn't hold out too much hope, what with hiring being as low as it is.
I sent out a load of CVs in October of last year but only got about 10% replies.

you have to be in aviation for the long haul.

Remember that a lot of the smaller operators simply do not have the resources and the manpower to reply to every single letter and CV that arrives at their door! I am sure if they had plenty of admin staff then they would make the effort.

I've actually found that it's the smaller operators that respond more than the larger ones. I've even had personalised responses and emails from Chief Pilots of regionals and smaller charter set-ups. All I seem to get (at the moment!) from the larger companies are PFO letters.

And these aren't depressing thoughts, they are facts.
That's just the way it is at the moment, but as SD says, things are picking up, but not in any great hurry.

Like Go-Around, I have found the smaller operators much more willing to repsond, sometimes personally, to my CV and letter.

I sent a batch of 31 CVs out in early December and to date have had 14 responses (mostly written and a handful by email).

The vast majority of the non-responses have been from what I class as the "larger" airlines (big companies, all jet fleets). The vast majority of the turboprop airlines and regional airlines have responded in one form or another.

But certainly keep firing them you never know when you might strike gold.

Hope I'm not teaching anybody to suck eggs here, but if you don't follow up your CV/letter with a phone call or personal visit to gauge the level of interest and to check on progress, then the airlines may well be justified in thinking you showed as much interest as they seem to be showing in you.

That advice is as true in any job hunt as it is in aviation. Don't forget, most of these letters and CV's end up on a pilot's desk, whose primary task is not admin, and they aint going to take time out of a busy schedule to reply to random applications. If you take the time to make it personal in a face-to-face kind of way, then you are far more likely to at least get a sympathetic and personal "**** off, we're not interested". My experience at least.;)

I am currentlly studying for the ATPL written exams, so I am quite a few months off applying for jobs.

I will certainly be showing my face at the establishments I apply to! (or at least a follow up phone call).
