Net year in college (2nd and final year) i will be picking up a further subject.
These subjects below are my options.
Which would be the best subject to take
for a person (me) who wishes to become a pilot? why is this?

Still, as they say, a closed mind is an empty mind!!

You have only two choices from your somewhat strange and diverse list Dave...Maths or Physics... do both, what on earth will you do with the rest of your time!

I would rule out your first 'Englih' and last (Thanks in Advance) options but isn't Maths and Mechanics the obvious choice?

Maths and Mechanics. Since this course covers Mechanics you don't really need Physics.

Maths & Mechanics would be useful, though I reckon physics is a better bet, since you will study mechanics and USE maths in this subject anyway! :D

Go for physics, you'll gain an insight on density, gas laws and other thermodynamics related stuff - all good for met. I suppose mechanics would be good for tech but since its a specialist subject I guess a lot of it will be irrelevant.

On re-reading your list, 'Dave' might be your best choice because aren't many Captains, who are not Nigels, called Dave?

Maths and Mechanics. I'm doing A Levels at the moment, and the extensive further Maths knowledge you will be taught will allow you to cope with any of the formulae in Physics related stuff...The mechanics part of maths is harder than the modules in Physics, so you cover all the subjects anyway.

I would do which ever subject you think you have the best chance of getting good grades.

If you are good at Maths and Physics, well study for them. But, if you're crap and hate them with a passion, but choose them because BA or other aviation companies 'prefer' them, when you get your results you might not get the results you want.

What Im saying is study the subjects you are interested in and enjoy. If you hate something you will not put the required effort in when your bored and pi$$ed off with it.

How many Captains out there have A Levels, HNDs and BA Hons Degrees in everything but aviation related subjects? When interviewed, it would look better if you made the wise choice of a degree in Basket Weaving and got the highest grade than choosing Rocket Science and failing.

What level are these subjects Dave and why are you doing them?

A lot of them don't look like A levels, is that what you are studying for?

Are these with a view to sponsorship?

Are the simply to help you with your ATPL studies?

Tell us more, and you will get more relevant advice!

What ever you study, you nead to LEARN to study, that is what the ATPL's are all about, learning to take in LOADS and LOADS of information in a structured way.

they are AS-level. (half an A-level)
its this new system the gov have put in thats f**king up for everyone.
The purpose for me deciding to get an as-level is twofold.
firstly to help me in coping with my ATPL's and secondly to look good sponsershipwise.
i need to decide by 11o'clock tommorrow morning so any last minute advice would be great.
