FAA Conversion

Fellow wannabes,

Can somebody give me some constructive advice regarding converting a FAA Instrument & FAA Commercial rating to the equivalent JAA ratings?

Am I correct in assuming "all " I would have to do upon returning to the UK would be a minimum 15 hour conversion & a skills test (170A) to get the JAA ratings?

I will have all the JAA ground subjects out of the way and I have enough hours to sit the FAA Commercial.

I am thinking of this route simply to save my hard earned pennies and because I will try to have a wee bit of a holiday during the training, I know I've earned it.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, any abuse ignored!!!

You'll need to pass both the CPL Skill Test and the IR. If you want an multi-engine class rating then you'll have to pass a licensing skill test (LST) on a twin (unless you've got lots of twin hours already or unless you do the CPL test on a twin). The training for the CPL Skill Test and the twin LST (assuming you're twin qualified in the USA) will be at the discretion of the Flying Training Organisation you go to. Then you've got the 15 hours minimum before the IRT.
