BAC type ratings
 

Every time i send a cv to BAC express they send me back a letter quoting 360 and F27 type rating prices. Has anyone any advice wether i should go grovling back to the bank for another £10000, to get a BAC type rating? Is there any chance of a job after you have completed it? I have a few friends in the same situation. If BAC would interview for the job first and say yes there is a job if you pass then obviously it would be worth doing. What does everyone else think?

All those who did a SD-360 and F27 rating in the last year were employed within a few months. If you're in Exeter then you are close to the main SD-360 base(4a/c), so I think it's worth serious consideration. I believe there's a course in the new year. Why not give 'em a call?

I have considered this myself, however I am not prepared to do this at the moment as there are definetely some non-type rated people getting jobs at the moment without having to fund it themselves, albeit being bonded. In the Freight Dogs Forum it was suggested that people do get jobs with BAC but not immediately. I guess the risk you take is unecessariliy paying for the rating yourself. Start pay with BAC is quite poor too so it may be difficult to pay a big loan back.

Perhaps someone who has done this can comment?

Are those people hired, frozen ATPL-ers with 180 hours in total or people with more experience?

Most are low hours frozen ATPLs, though there are also some ex flying instructors with more hours.
