UK Flying Costs
Just curious, what does it cost to fly in the UK these days?
What does a Cessna 152 cost per hour or a C172? What are you guys budgeting for PPL, CPL/IR or ATPL Thanks |
Where I work, C152/Katana = £89 solo, £105 dual for PPL training, £98 / £116 per hour for PA28.
CPL & FI training = £179 per dual hour in C152 / Warrior, about £200 for the Arrow. |
The club I use based at Coventry...
C150=£62.50 C172=£81.50 Add I think £11 for Instructor. Same price if doing Night/IMC etc. ------------------ GET THE BLOODY NOSE DOWN! |
About £80 for either the Grob 115 or a C150/152 at Lancs Aero Club, with instructor.
Anyone else out there learning in a Grob? It seems pretty rare. |
Viggen - learning to fly in a Grob?! Congrats and good luck, they are all tricky compared to Cessna Piper fare.

Gspot, To answer your "budgeting" question, I spent exactly £10k ($14k) converting my FAA CPL-IR into a UK one, including all CAA fees (£564 per checkride + £172 for licence issue). MF |
Delta Wun-Wun:
Which club do you use? The one I've been looking at recently is Herefordshire Aero Club near Leominster which is £73 per hourly lesson (inc. instructor). Your club looks to be about the same price and it would take me just 40 mins to get to Coventry rather than the 1.5 hours to Leominster. Appreciate any info you can give me! |
Professor,
I fly at Almat Flying Club.I`ll e-mail you the details. ------------------ GET THE BLOODY NOSE DOWN! |
I was going to e-mail you with some details ,but I see you have no e-mail address. The club number is 02476 305519.
or you can ring the owner Glyn 07710 299513.(usually works best,he always has his fone with him). The busy times are weekends, that`s the best time to go and have a look around and see if you like it. ------------------ GET THE BLOODY NOSE DOWN! |
