Failing ATPL writtens
 

Hi Everyone,
I'm just about to sit my ATPL writtens and was just wondering if any one has taken them and failed them all?? :mad: I'm taking 8 and have said if I fail more than half I will take some time out and do something else, anyone been in this situation before??

Good luck and try not to be too negative!

The exams are tough but not impossible – you should get them during the six sittings, most do. Remember that you can take take a few attempts at each subject, so getting 50% of them first time out isn't the end of the world! I personally struggled with one subject and despite success in the other subjects was stuck with one failure after my four attempts. I then went straight back into intensive study and brush-up courses and got them all in three months. I have 27 passes in twelve months to my name and have begun flying at last for the CPL/IR.

If you are determined, you will do the work necessary to overcome this hurdle and will not look back.

Word of advice...choose your ground school wisely.

I certainly hope that nobody who has taken them all and failed is reading this, cause if you are them you are in the wrong line of business!!!

Lee A, I haven't got to the point where you are yet but confidence has to play a large part in the exams. If you don't feel you are ready then why not hold of for a while while you do some extra revision? I presume you have looked at previous papers?

Sounds like you are on the module 1 course at BGS in January possibly?. I will be there doing module 2 course then. I seem to remember feeling that I didn't have much chance of passing many of my module 1's but after 2 weeks at Bristol and ~ 2000 practice papers I passed them all, its fairly intensive but worth it.

right, i think that if we had not the brush up course, it would be much harder to pass the tests.
I heared 90% of what Bristol give you during the 2 weeks course is in the exam.My best advice would be to study what Bristol gave you during these 2 weeks, and you will be ready.

How much time do you have between completing the brush up and having to sit the exams?

Hi, I had one subject that I repeatedly failed (Nav General) so I attended two brush up courses to nail this problem (thanks Pete Lines:D ) and passed on the third and final attempt!

A music teacher said to me many years ago "Make your stumbling blocks your stepping stones", so true - I ended up acheiving a higher mark in that exam than any other subject.:cool:

I finished my brush up on a friday and started my exams on the following Monday, but you don't have to do it that way, you can sit the exams on the first week of any month. Having said that I will be doing the same for module 2 as it worked for me on module 1.
