jar licenses and italy,nothing yet...

french living in italy and currently holder of an italian pp with 130 hrs,i have to deal with a shortage of homologated schools... although italy is part of the jar system nothing is done here yet and if you didn't sign for an italian cpl/ir(deadline was 31.12.00) well you just have to wait until schools get their jar homologations which would not be before2002 at best... so i was wondering if it was possible to take the atpl exams in uk or france then do the cpl/ir in italy or everything has to be completed in the same country??

According to JAR-FCL the written and flight tests for a pilot's licence have to be done in the same country. Once you have the licence in hand you can then get a type rating in any JAR country.
e.g You train for your ATPL in UK and then get an A320 rating in Germany.

I'll give you the same piece of advice I gave to a friend two years ago: Get your Frozen ATPL with BA Systems in Jerez-Spain. It will cost you £53,000 British Pounds. The training is excellent and chances of getting a job after are better than any other school. Italy is way behind in training pilot's according to the JAR syllabus so bypass the system and go abroad. It will cost you less money and above all less hassle.
