Two Questions
I have had a good look around and can see no obvious barriers presented by age for aspiring commercial pilots - is this the case?
Which is the best airline publication to read when starting out when you think you might want to be commercial pilot, or (as it appears to be)is it all here on the site? |
In the turbo prop world, there doesn't seem to be an age bar on pilots. At KLM uk there seem to be a few grey haired newish F/O's on the fleet.
The larger carriers, such as Cathay and Singapore, tend to have an "age commensurate with experience" rider on their job offers. I.e if you're 35 they're looking for 5000 hours, rather than a CPL and 300 hours TT. |
Thanks for the information, very civil - KLM here we come (how did you know I was 35?).
On a slightly different tack, is it unheard of to mix relevent experience with pilot training (ie I'll help you run your IT systems if you help me to become a pilot) [This message has been edited by TTFliHi (edited 25 June 2001).] |
Guide to Getting an ATPL by Clive Hughes is the bible in this field. Definitely worth the £20.
