Hours PS??

Is there anyone who could tell me what Hours PS are. I am filling in a Britannia Application form and they ask for the number of hours P1 PICUS and PS. Thanks for any help you can give.

Just went through the official CAA document "recording & crediting of flight time"... couldn't find "PS" anywhere.

Thanks for your help MF. On close inspection I think it is a misprint and should read P2. That definitely makes the most sense anyway. Have you got an CAP number for the flight hours recording, I would like to get a copy as I still have a few grey areas in recording hours. For example, should P1us entries be countersigned by the P1 until I get my ATPL unfrozen?

Well under JAR-OPS 1, a pilot can only have 4 functions :

(i) PIC (which includes solo, SPIC, PICUS time)

(ii) Co-pilot

(iii) Dual

(iv) Flight instructor / Flight examiner

Personnally, I have never logged a single hour as PIC U/S, & I have never had my logbook signed by anybody. For example for both the CPL & the IR checkrides, I logged the flight time as PIC (since I passed, otherwise it would have been Dual). Went to Gatwick for licence issue & the CAA did not have anything to say about that.

You only ever get P1 U/S hours from flying a test or an additional rating check with CAA, so they would ideally be countersigned in the logbook as well. It is P1 U/S if you pass and dual if you fail.
