Flight Training - Sydney
 

Hi all

I’m in my early twenties, currently employed for an airline working in airport operations based at the Sydney port.

I’m financially independent, albeit underpaid, and wanting to become a pilot, it has been a lifelong aspiration.

Recently (over the past 2 years in this position) have been looking at starting flight training but considering I’m financially independent and live by and rent by myself, the financial aspects of this decision make it significantly difficult to find a suitable balance of training against work.

Was initially very interested in the SFC part time course only to find out that it’s self funded for Part Timers and HECS covered for full time. I don’t have the ability to study full time just purely because of my financial independence and need to pay rent. Was also considering the QGPTA in QLD however that is a massive move and disrupt to connections and relationships I have in Sydney.

Was told by a SFC mentor that I need to ‘make a decision about how badly I want to become a pilot’, which is a narrow minded and frankly abhorrent way to pushing that point across considering how difficult, financially, it is to live at the moment.

Just wanted to find out and see if anyone knew any reputable part time programs that are HECS supported and have minimal upfront costs that are based in the Sydney locality. I really want to start working as a techie as soon as possible but majority of options I’ve considered and researched are purely infeasible due to commitments to relationship, work and financials.
