probably very late but they had a crash which killed 3 people. The crash was due to their own carelessness, they had a huge backlog and they tried to hurry through the program. just check the google reviews. you get bare minimum help there as a student.

Flight School in Norway

I am planning to take integrated course in Norway from Gov Loan. it cost 100 000 euro.

I am having difficulty on choosing school from 2

Pilot Flight Academy www.pilot.no
and OSM Aviation Academy in Arendal www.flyosm.com

Can somebody advise me on which school is better and why with detail reasons.

Thank you

I’ve sent OSM several emails many months ago and up to this day haven’t received a single response from them. I guess they don’t want my money, lol

Have you considered UiT and TFHS in Sweden? They are government sponsored programs.

CaptainMav 11th February 2025 12:41

I went with OSM, i have friends who also went there and recently graduated, and are currently going through airline interviews. They say the school is very good, there are no delays, you have the 13 atpl subjects in 3 different phases and also the flying is done in 3 different phases. It is very professional school, has a very good job placement, you can look through LinkedIn of their recent graduates, most of them are already with an airline (transavia, SAS, Norwegian, Ryanair, Wizz air) I start as part of the april class.

If you have any questions I can answer.

Is it easy to pass the ATPL theory?

Its not like crazy difficult, it depends on your level of study, and how long has it been since you have studied. Its alot of information to process. So lots of long hours spent studying alone after class, etc. Its achievable. I know some people who werent that great in High School that have done well because they were motivated and were willing to work hard.

It's worth noting that former students who are now working at Transavia (HV) and TUI (Netherlands & Belgium) primarily studied at OSM through EPST. EPST takes care of both the selection process and the APS MCC training in-house in the Netherlands. For ATPL theory and basic flight training, EPST students train at OSM in Norway, AELO Swiss Academy / AeroLocarno in Switzerland or Global Aviation in Greece.

Yeah, that is a good information aswell. You would have to speak Dutch anyways to work for Transavia, maybe i shouldnt have included it but my general point was more of the possibilities to work are decent. I know people from my country (Finland) who have studied in Norway. Currently work at Norwegian, Eurowings, Ryanair, Wizz. Pretty much the european LCC airlines and have gone onto the legacy airlines when they have built up enough experience.

Is the ATPL course at OSM taught in English even though the school is in Norway. I would assume so as English is the universal language but curious to know

ArcticFlyer69 27th March 2025 13:02

Both flight schools will give you the same certificates, so chances of getting a job are more or less equal. I know students from both schools who are working in Widerøe, SAS and Norwegian.

OSM says 89 % of their students get a job within 12 months, and PFA says 75 %.. I am doubting if this is true?..😅

The ATPL-theory is doable with hard work and dedication. I spent 10 months to finish all the 13 ATPL-exams.

PFA and OSM are expensive flight schools, so I would first look into luftfartsfag at the university in Tromsø (government sponsored).
You should visit both schools and see what appeals to you.

Hello,

I´ve passed recently the assessment for the school and I can start next year in April or August.

How international is the school? I´m from Germany and I dont speak norwegian or a other northern languages. Are there many international students? I´m wondering, because I won´t enjoy when everybody talk to each other in norwegian and I´m the only one who does´nt understand a word...

Greetings :)

CaptainMav 13th October 2025 11:47

Which one of the two schools are you referring to?

Laurens04040 13th October 2025 12:44

The OSM Flightschool, maybe you can give me some insides…The last post was in February, are you still happy?

CaptainMav 2nd November 2025 07:55

Hi, yes the school is very international. I have classmates from Netherlands, Switzerland, and other nordic countries. There are people from England, Spain even Americans. The Norwegians tend to speak english very well so you dont have to worry about the language barrier. People speak 90% of the time in English. It is a small little summer city, which is beautiful and the people are very nice. I am doing all my studies in Norway which i am very happy about since the appeal for me was flying over scandinavian airspaces and the tough conditions the mountains present, I heard the new classes will have to do some parts of the study in the US? which is not bad itself flying in Miami. If you have the option, do the theory first in norway/sweden before going to the us for the flying phase. if you have the option of staying fully in norway i would recommend it. the people are nice and there is alot of help from other students and tutor programs for any studies you have problems with, its a very professional environment but also allows time to have fun. I was fortunate enough to have a good class, which helps.

OSM

Hey,

thank you very much for you’re detailed answer.

Yes they scheduled the first and second flying phase in Florida, so I think you don’t have the opportunity to start with the theory at the beginning (Sadly)

But I think you have good conditions in the US and you also have a advanced training in Norway after the practice ether…

I don’t think you can choose if you want to stay in Norway or US .. but I don’t have a clue…

but thanks for your answer, and I’m looking forward to see you eventually at the campus in Norway..

Hi,

Thanks for everyone's thoughts! Glad to hear people are happy with OSM.
Do you guys know what are the chances of getting hired after finishing OSM by airlines for almost a 40yo person? I'm thinking of applying to that school and I'm 36 atm.
Thanks!

SoyPilot 31st December 2025 16:40

Does OSM still do Funded Programs? I can't find any info.

Thanks :)

Warlock1 2nd January 2026 13:32

They just collapsed unfortunately

SoyPilot 2nd January 2026 15:48

Hi,

Is that a reply to my post?
What do you mean they collapsed? The company or the Funded Program?

Thanks.

The school/company has gone into administration.
