PPL A TO ATPL A Theory

Hi all, assuming you have an EASA PPL-A, what additional written exams would you need to complete in order to get the frozen ATPL-A ? Very simple question but somehow I can’t find the answer !

Thanks for your input.

Is this a serious question?! There are 14 ATPL exams...

Hi Rudestuff, thanks you for your reply. It is indeed a serious question as I hold an ATPL-H and a PPL-A and when reading the CAP, it is mentioned that 021, 022, 032, 071 and 081 are required to bridge from ATPL-H to ATPL-A. However, some of those 5 subjects (021,022, 032, 071, 081) are already in the PPL syllabus, hence my question: which PPL subjects (should) “count” towards the ATPL ? The CAA told me I had to write all the 5 subjects mentioned above, which does not make sense since I already wrote some of them For the PPL-A !

cheers

Linda

If I understand you correctly what you’ve passed at PPL(A) is the basics. You’ll need to bridge ATPL(H) to ATPL(A). The level of detail is much greater.

Gotcha. Yeah, none of the PPL exams will count for ATPL I'm afraid, you have to do all 5 bridging exams. You'll have to do a course and get signed off by an ATO, but the good news is that there is no time limit and you can roll straight into your multi and IR then do a 15 hour CPL

Thanks guys for your reply. I m sorry to hear that none of the PPL-A exams count towards the ATPL. I appreciate your input.

BR and fly safe.

In the UK you do nor need a PPL A to bridge from H to A. Just make sure the school you choose has a proper bridging course - you can't just rock up and ytake 5 exams
