MCC generic types, cost etc

Some time in the not so distant future I am hoping to enlist on a MCC course. I was wondering if perhaps in this forum we could generate a list of relevant organisations, cost, length of course and aircraft type.

To start the ball rolling:

OATS
@ £4.5k
4 weeks
737 EFIS

any more offers

cheers

Multiflight
@ £1950 inc. VAT

(can't vouch for it personally but I think it's the cheapest out there - doesn't say on their website what sim they use)

It's where I'm headed :)

Bear in mind that the 737 'sim' that OATS advertises is NOT a B737 simulator.

It's a generic synthetic training device somewhat similar to a B737 but gives NO loggable 737 experience.

It bears the same relationship to a B737 as a Frasca 242 (with the Seneca pack) does to the real PA34/PASE.

The OATS sim is loggable as B737 EFIS.

The B737-400 sim is almost ready for blast-off and I presume they'll start using it for the MCC soon.

4Forces is the way to go. Spot on course, superb instructors (all current airline types)and they team you with people of similar experience (did mine with a French chap). Finished mine 2 weeks ago and can't speak highly enough.

Is this a new sim?

When I inquired last year the information I received was that it was most definately NOT a simulator. It was a flight training device along the lines of an FNPT2 and did not meet the requirements for type endorsement training.

I wonder how we could confirm the status of this device?

MJR, closer to home for you, The Flight Centre at Wolverhampton International (teee heee)have just opened their new sim. Its a Be200, dont know what it costs but worth a phone call.

MJR 20th June 2001 13:34

Well thats a good start, However can anyone be more specific about simulator types at 4 forces. I'm particular to identify whether an FTO offers jet sims or turboprop sims.

cheers

MJR,

The MCC is a major rip-off anyway, so my advice is take the cheapest one. Here are a few current prices :
4 Forces & Multiflight : £ 1,950
LGU : £ 2,250
SFT : £ 2,470
AFT : £ 3,000
GE Capital : £ 3,525
CTC-ATP Scheme : £ 3,800
OATS : £ 3,830

Dunno the prices @ Crabair & MC Training Ltd. Web addresses available if U need'em.

Dumb question I know, but what do you get extra at the more expensive ones? I presume it's a higher grade of sim, but can some one confirm that.

Thanks

This subject was mentioned at the Seminar. The advice was do the cheapest one you can get your hands on.It is not a pass/fail course. The type of sim is really immaterial as you are learning to work as a two pilot team, not do a type rating.

I'm about to do an MCC Course with SFT on 29 June on L1011 Tristar £2467.50 including VAT. Bring back NVQ! Was a student at SFT as well. Had some excellent feedback. I was going to 4 Forces £1950 inclusive but fancied having a go on a heavy opposed to a kingair with limited visuals and no motion!!
