If you are able to do them - do them. Simple as that in my opinion. It can't do any harm - as many others have said, at some point there may well be a chance you may be disqualified from flying - in which case what happens next !?! It keeps your options open. It might even give you the opportunity to go to University which by all accounts is the most amazing time of your life - and you get the chance to join the UAS etc... If you look at any recruitment site for any job, whether accountancy, IT, Finance etc.. they may require the standard professional exams that are relevant to the particular industry, but you will find that they invariably say "must also have a minimum 2:2 honours" or "Must have such and such points at A-Level". To put it simply, exams can be used as a filter like any other profession. It shows your ability to learn and adapt to new techniques etc.. pretty important from an airline's point of view (Line training, future type conversion etc..) - I am sure they must take them into consideration. Exams can only make you more marketable. If you are going for the modular/DE route they may not be so important but, having said that, I'm am not a pilot recruitment expert so others may advise better !!! I'm sure it won't ruin your chances of an airline career (In fact it won't, because I've read other threads where people have got flying jobs without them - so don't panic !!), but it may make life easier. I sincerely reckon you should take them if you can. Go for it...... and good luck. (Waiting for some abuse from all the Student haters in the world !!!!)
