CTC/ATP scheme

I am currently doing my IR and considering applying to the CTC Academy in a few weeks, but I have a question. Is there any preference given to integrated course graduates as opposed to modular guys like myself?

Cheers.

None whatsoever!

Selection has changed since I got on the scheme, however it is worth VERY SERIOUS CONSIDERATION.

If you get in, life gets very good very quickly.

Don't just consider it - do it. At the moment it is the only opportunity open, and a great one!

They don't discriminate between modular/integrated but I think they probably prefer as many first time passes as possible. More than that though - it is the right personality.

DO IT! APPLY!

I did it in Jan, now flying for EASYJET. When you are there, work very hard and you'll get through.

There are always a lot of posts from people who did the CTC thing and got a job at the end. Congratulations to all of you.

I'm just wondering though how many people have spent the money, done the course and then not been selected. Its obviously a good thing if you get your job, but is it another huge waste of money if you dont?

How much is it anyway?

Good question, worzel, one that has been bothering me also.

On top of that, did anyone do the AQC part of the selection whilst still in full-time employment? Did CTC view that negatively at all?

cheers!
foggy.

5.5-6.5K depending on whether you want to be fed and bedded there or not. On top of the pound of flesh you have no doubt already contributed towards your licence. Tough choice.

Or even worse, how many people have done the AQC, passed and completed a type rating (all post 911) and not got a job despite being in the holding pool 'somewhere'? (having maybe resigned from a good job to do the thing!).

That's what I'm worried about. I'd rather apply when teh market is a bit healthier if I have to give up my current job.

foggy.

The Greaser 15th July 2002 13:08

Foggy.

You dont need to give up your job at this stage. As long as you can get 3 weeks off to complete the AQC.
Chances are that if you leave application until a definite upturn in the industry then there will be far more applications than they are currently receiving and hence less chance of getting selected.

Foggy,

I agree with Greaser. I've just spent the last 6 months saving the cash and holiday time. Just posted the ATP apps today and plan to use my accrued hols to complete the course. Fingers crossed that I actualy don't have to use the hols sitting on the beach! If you know what I mean .;)
