Equivalent Qualifications.

Hi all, just a quick question which I have had spinning around my head for the last few days. When I was seventeen I was at school doing A levels in Physics, Chemestry, Biology and History but being a bit of an immature pratt I droped out and learnt to fly instead. Not much wrong with that I suppose but the day dawned when I realised that I had given up the remote possibility of gaining that elusive sponsorship. I had made a mistake and decided to do something about it last year by enrolling at Norwich City College and started 2 fast track, part time A levels in Human Biology and History. Good so far......until yesterday when I sat my first History exam. I reckon I flunked it, not because I did not know the answers but because I knew too much, a lack of essay writing practice (due to limited time working at my local airfield) was the primary reason for the problem. Although I am aware that I may have done really well and I still have one paper to go I doubt if I will achieve the required 'C'. On the other hand my Human Biology is going really well and I still have one paper to go and I reckon I will get either an A or B. Sooooooo my question is this, I really, really want to have a crack at BA but one A level is not acceptable, however, my two A levels were part time, fast track A levels; infact I only started them at the end of September last year which meant that I had only eight months of study.....for two A levels.

Now BA ask quite clearly for two GCE A levels at grade C or above OR equivalent. So who thinks that achieving at least one A level in Human Biology in eight months, while holding down a job and practicaly teaching yourself as well as studying for an A level in history is equivalent to two A levels in the normal two year period??? My tutor told me that the amount of work that I was undertaking was the equivalent to four A levels in the normal period. What do you all reckon of my chances if I got a letter from my tutor stating that my qualifications are the equivalent of two 'normal' A levels???

LE. :)

Hi there Long eagle,

No harm in trying! Mention that it wasn’t straightforward A’levels. It’s more condensed thus more pressurised et.. So say that! You won’t know till you try mate.

Take great care
