Dear Oxford Blue.

I am confused by your comments . How does the policy of visual 'VFR' flying being done in the States enable a reduction in instrument 'IFR' instructors in the UK? Surely this policy of flying VFR in the States has been in force for many years?

So to sum it all up, by everyone's admission, the instruction at OAT is very, very good, so QED the industry will look favorably at an OAT graduate. That is why there is still an oversupply of people wishing to train there and what anybody says about the management, however true, they are not paying to do a 'Cranfield' type management course there!!
Yes, there is a painfull shake-up in progress and those instuctors in the frame to go are very unhappy. But if the work comes in perhaps it will not be all them who go (AP is trying to get the work in and I believe him - that is after all what any business is about!)
So watch this space, a week's a long time in politics so the say, maybe at OAT things could be on the reversal sooner than one may expect!

The industry will look just as favourably on any integrated course graduate. Please please please don't think that you will be any way advantaged in job hunting because you went to OATS.

I don't think that any OATS instructor would seriously suggest that you would be.

A fine school. Like the others.

I think that catalyst for this thread is that the ground engineer training at oxford is being shutdown . this has no effect on the flight training.

It would seem to me that this thread from a flying point of view has gone off at half cock !.

The fact that some of you may not get flying jobs because no one has trained eny maintenance engineers to fix the aircraft that you want to fly is another issue.
