First officer Scheme
I am very interested in the first officer scheme. Is it true you can go to the USA and get right hand seat time with an operator flying a turbo prop for just £20 an hour. I would be grateful for any information.
Many thanks |
I know times are hard just now, but shouldn't our employers pay US!

You could give Gulfstream Int'l Airlines a try. They have a pretty good first officer scheme. (At least it was a couple of years ago).
www.gulfstreamacademy.com/firstofficer/firstofficer.html Maybe not such a bad idea in these troubled times.... .Good Luck ! |
Sounds good, although I do not like the idea of all cash having to be paid before the end of the second day.

The only thing I would caution about is the immigration side of things. If you are a foreign student then you will need a Student Visa (I-20/M-1) to legally enter the program. This visa needs to be issued by the school that offers the First Officer Program. Immigration is getting very strict (as they should be) so please be careful!

Raspberry, try www.flighttime.net (Internationl Flyers out of Utah)and select the type of a/c on which you would like to acquire some experience. . .There are lots of other First Officer programs available. Go to www.ufly.com and check out what some other pilots have to say about the various F/O programs in the States.. .Good luck. Be very careful for there are many shady operators preying on the wannabe pilots.

HAVING SPOKEN TO GULFSTREAM ,UNLESS YOU HAVE A GREEN CARD OR WORK PERMIT YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FIRST OFFICER PROGRAMME
|
I know that you newly qualified guys want to gain experience to make you more attractive to potential future employers, but quite frankly, any U.S. Company which is prepared to charge an hourly rate for people to work for them and produce revenue, is disgraceful! These people should be 'named and shamed'. .I believe there's a company in the south of England that takes on first officers on a 'no remuneration' contract to fly their Islander/Trislander aircraft.. .Again - these people should be treated as the parasites they are, and avoided like the plague.
