UK PPL
 

My first question was a bit vague by the looks of it so here's my second attempt.

Can anyone recomend a good PPL flight school where accomodation isn't to big a problem if you havn't got a car?

Any help would be supurb,

Get yourself a ticket to Florida. Most of the British flight schools there provide transport as part of the package. They even pick you up from the airport.

Thanks Buddy, but I am stuck in good old blighty for the summer so have to make do with the best I can find here,

I would venture Clacton although this is only based on their advertisements and no practical experience. Cheapish PPL and ability to do it on a Cub, should you wish. The farm strip course looks a hoot too.

Why don't you invest in a cheap bike so you're not so limited?

I would always suggest Leeds Flying School - My own experiences and the many comments which have been posted here are very favourable.

Not sure about transport arrangements but I'm sure they can tell you what the situation is. I would put the quality of the training above the transport arrangements as its more important and transport problems can always be worked round somehow.

Solent Flight at Southampton airport is a short walk from a railway station and they are an excellent flying school.

If money is no object, Sywell has a hotel on the airfield, but the cost is approx £55/night <img src="eek.gif" border="0">

I've heard alot of good things about Northampton Flying School so I've selected NFS for some tailwheel difference training I need, but I shall be staying off the airfield as I can't afford two nights at £55!

I have just got my PPL with Abbas Air at Compton Abbas (EGHA) its a great place to learn, and the flying isn't too expensive (PA-28 = £116 ph). I did mine as a residential over the summer. They put you up in the farmhouse at the end of the airfield and you get a full english breakfast every morning, useful before those nav trips. Thanks you all, I think Solent looks about the best, as I am after quality training and they seem to have a good rep. and the railway will be about the best chance of making accomodation more accesable for me, its pretty s--t being a skint student makes life a pain but will be well worth it in the end,

I had a great time at Tayside FC in Dundee. A good few years ago now though. Did my FS and PPL there, still occasionally fly out of there or visit in other pointy ac. Good access to some non congested, scenic flying areas and accomodation is rife.
