maritime or aeronautical education

i want to eventually end up a commercial airline pilot. i am a senior in high school. is it better to go to an aviation university, or a maritime university and do the pilot stuff on the side. the advantages of the maritime are a backup and a good source of income with plentY of free time for flight training through flight safety international or equivelent. will the airlines be preferential to any of these 2 ways?

the prospects are much better with a maritime career !
Do you know that indian ship officer candidates are paid 1000GBP
per month DURING THEIR TRAINING (1000GBP/month is not bad for india). Needless to say, the training comes free also and sponsored by major shipping companies like Total.
For the JAR ATPL, you have to pay 50K from your own pocket, there is no sponsorship at the moment. And if you can find a job which i doubt, it will be for a lousy salary not far from the one of indian trainees.
