Transfer ICAO typerating to JAA license?

I have a JAA ATPL and also a non JAA license from an ICAO country witch has an airbus rating on it.

I want to transfer the Airbus typerating to the JAA ATPL. Is this possible?

Well it is at the moment in the UK but there are a few hoops to jump through with respect to hours on type and getting a CAA examinor to conduct a LST on it.

Aren't 500+ hours on type required?

The requirements are 500 hours on type, and LPC with a JAR TRE in a JAR approved sim. Then submit the paperwork along with original licence/logbook to show you have the hours as well as the type valid on the ICAO licence.
