who to go to?
Hello,
when you have all your license and finnish university who do you go to to get hired as an airline pilot? |
Which license do you have? What has university got to do with it? When you have everything you need I suspect you need to have a look for an airline that is hiring to get a job as an airline pilot!
You need to be alot more specific if you want people on here to help you. |
ok, lets say I just finished university, have a PPL and CPL and possibly a frozen ATPL etc. From then what kind of airline do I go to? Do I just go to one and they train me or do I have to get a type rating before etc
What do pilots normally do when this time comes? |
In the current market employment is very difficult to come by, the choice that we used to have has some what diminished and really its a question of who will have me? Rather than who do i want to work for?( For the first job) And IMHO it will be like this for the foreseeable future, although some will disagree.
The 'magic number' as some say at the moment looks to be around 1500TT ( total time) with preferably 500 hours on type and a type rating, which is usually self funded. Type ratings are hardly ever free anymore, your usually bonded for a number of years ( e.g flybe MPL scheme) or in some schemes, like cathay pacific it is free, but these schemes are very hard to come by. Some prefer to self fund a TR before securing a job, while some wait until they have a job offer pending a TR pass, ( it depends on the airline, but you would be lucky to get this offer) so at the moment you find that people who can afford the TR will get it. Once you have secured the job, you will learn the company SOP's and the commence line training, i.e training you as a first officer in the specific airline, to fly 'on the line'. For low hour pilots it seems to be increasingly difficult to get the first job, however some find themselves in a job straight out of school, which is very lucky! You need patience and money, lots of it ;). Many find themselves as flight instructors, or practicing their skills in GA, photography, pleasure flights e.t.c Any other questions, PM me. |
yeah I was thinking of instructor if no one hires me. Do most out of school pilots go to regional airlines?
