Airbus LST
hello to all.
i am due to have my skills test in a couple of weeks time. i am just looking for some information on what to expect. i can get anxious at times of an examination. is it something that people generally pass on a first attempt? is it an easy test to fail? my course has gone well so far and have had positive feedback from my instructors, however i get nervous when it comes to the exam. thank you pierre |
Hi Pierre,
I've recently done the LST on the B737 and there really are no suprises. Everything in the LST, you will have covered in your training so not an awful lot to worry about. Just bee cool, calm and collective on the day and it all comes together nicely (with a bit of hard work of course:)) I think generally people pass on their first attempt, that was the case where I trained anyway. With regards as to what to expect in the LST, we had manuals covering it, alternatively you could always just have a sit down with an instructor and ask them all about it. All the very best! GD |
As, has been mentioned there are no real surprises. There are a number of mandatory items that have to be covered on your LST. From memory you have to do the following.
Engine failure on take off. Single Engine ILS. Single Engine GA. NPA. TCAS. Rejected Take off. All this is usually put together as a little LOFT exercise, but it depends on the TRE. There are also a number of abnormals that must be thrown in too, I think it is 6, but not sure, and they can be what ever the TRE chooses. If this is your first type rating, you will most likely find it will be some minor faults. You are also allowed to repeat certain items. For example if you screw up your SE Go Around, you are allowed to receive a verbal brief from the examiner and then repeat that item. As long as you meet the standard required, it is no big deal. You will most likely enjoy the experience, there is a lot to cover, but if you get a good TRE it usually is an enjoyable session and you learn new things. All the best with it. |
thank you for your comments. i will post to how i get on
thank you |
